The retrospective on Sakiko Nomura (Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, 1967) takes its title from the famous novel by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, 'Tender is the Night'. Like in the narrative, the protagonists of the photographs are young and attractive. Her nudes, almost always in black and white, in nocturnal, mysterious atmospheres full of shadows, alternate with other images of animals, still lifes, especially flowers, city views, hotel room interiors, atmospheric phenomena, lights, and reflections in motion. Scenes that the viewer can intuit, loaded with allegorical meanings such as the transience of things, the fleetingness of moments, and ultimately, the passage of life.
