The Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló presents the individual exhibition of artist Abdelkader Benchamma. Over the years, he has built an original and coherent body of work centered on drawing as a fundamental instrument of thought and exploration. Far from understanding it as a minor or preparatory discipline, the artist has claimed drawing as an autonomous medium capable of generating complex universes and immersive experiences. His artistic practice has constantly evolved, absorbing and reinterpreting diverse references ranging from classical drawing and scientific modeling to fresco, Japanese prints, and fantastic and esoteric literature. Benchamma proposes an 'expanded drawing' that overflows the traditional limits of paper. His interventions occupy walls, ceilings, and floors, integrating into the architecture of the exhibition space and transforming it. The drawing ceases to be an object contained within a frame to become an environment, an atmosphere, an enveloping experience. This expansion generates a new perceptual dimension that places the viewer inside the work, inviting them to explore, inhabit, and transcend their own limits.
